Boiler modernization to reduce emissions at Berlin Tegel Airport
Start / Boiler modernization to reduce emissions at Berlin Tegel Airport
Airport Berlin Tegel
Germany 10115 Berlin
2018 - 2019
The Berlin TegelAirport “Otto Lilienthal” (TXL) is one of the two international airports in the greater Berlin area. In 2018, one plane took off or landed at TXL every two minutes on average between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m., with 22 million passengers handled.
The installed boiler plant with a total capacity of 28 MW is worn out due to its utilization time being significantly longer than expected. Furthermore, the emissions of the gas-fired plant are to be reduced.
For this purpose a modern low-NOx burner and a PLC-supported boiler control and monitoring system were installed in Boiler 1 and commissioned.
